Howl’s Moving Castle, the book. Yes there is a book.

Howl’s Moving Castle become my favorite book within overnight. Ok, maybe not my all-time favorite but I got obsessed with the book like no other. First I saw the japanese animated film, after Totoro it felt cool but not extraordinary. Now a few weeks ago I plugged the dvd again to player and this time I loved the film and its story. It got stuck in my head like good stories tend to do for me. I went to Wikipedia and learned that the film is actually based on an english childrens novel. So I ordered that book from play.com. And then I realised that I can’t wait for it, and went and got the book from our local library next day. That was saturday morning last week and I finished the book before the weekend ended. I loved the book. It was better than a movie. The movie got the story and the characters right but the book is so much more. So I read the book again. I haven’t done that since childhood, starting book again right after finishing the last page. Halfway through the second reading my copy from play.com arrived. I put the library copy to side and continued my brand new copy from the same page I left tattered copy. The library copy and my new copy are from the same edition. Through the second reading I realised who Howl looked like in my mind (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) and that it is actually Calcifer who falls in love with Sophie. I skimmed back and forward between chapters trying to find out the timeline  when Howl and Michael find out about Sophies curse. And when I finished it I started right from the beginning, for the third time. And I finished the third reading today. Maybe I should read the sequel next – Castle in the Air.
